International Gaming Expo - London 2009
One of the big weeks in the world of slot machines is the International Gaming Exhibition (IGE) in London
At the same time, the show also hosted the International Online Casino Exhibition (ICEi), where all of the big online casino operators show what’s new in the world of the online slots. We were there taking a look at all the new slots and other gaming innovations that we are likely to see appearing in casino over the coming year.
This is a great event for us, because we get to talk to the guys that make the games, the people that run the online casinos and we also get to see the new games they are planning to release. It gives us the opportunity to assess which casinos we can really trust and where the best gaming experience is going to come from during the year ahead.
As you would expect, we took some time to go and have a chat with the guys at Wagerworks, the people who convert all of the classics from IGT, like cleopatra, wolf run and elvis slots for online play. And guess what? They had our site on the big screen!
Whilst we were there, we asked Wagerworks about the possibility of their games being made available for US players. Unfortunately, it looks likely that even in ‘free’ mode, the games will not be released to US players online in the near future.
However, they did mention that they are very keen to get the IGT games up and running for US online players as soon as they can. In practical terms, that means when the US decides to formally regulate and tax online gaming. Although there has been no time-line for this yet, it has been speculated in many different sources, that this could occur sometime early in 2010.
So, you may have a year to wait before you get vegas slots like monopoly and wheel of fortune online in the US, but it does look like it will happen at some stage in the future
