Monopoly Slots Game History

Monopoly was developed by Williams Gaming (WMS) and launched in 1999, winning the award of ‘Most Innovative Gaming Product’ at the American Gaming, Lodging and Leisure Summit during that year. Four different Monopoly Slots were initially brought out and the game became an instant hit

Two of the four versions first released were classic old fashioned reel-spinning slots - these machines are now very rare on the casino floors now and it often amazes me how a machine that is not even 10 years old can be seen as an antique.

The other two original machines would be more familiar to the modern slot player as they were video slots (called ‘Roll & Win’ and ‘Advance to Boardwalk’). In fact, the Advance to Boardwalk name still appears on some monopoly machines today.

More recently, this game has been introduced as a ‘transmissive wheels’ slot, an innovation that has again, won WMS awards for technological advances in slot machine manufacturing. This type of machine is very different from either the classic three-reel slots or even the style of the typical modern day video slots. The other new game is the multi-player version where if one player gets onto the bonus game, then all players sitting at the block also gets to play.
