Monopoly slots - a long-time favorite of the casino floor. Since its introduction to the casino, monopoly has won numerous awards and has made its producer, WMS Gaming, into one of the biggest players in the slot machine market
Monopoly is available online, but not yet for US players. The casino with games most similar to Monopoly, with it's bonus feature rounds is probably Superior Casino - they have a big range of video slots with bonus features that are similar to the ones you find in Vegas. They also have quite a few classic three reel slots and jackpots that are like the progressives you get in Vegas hotels
The Monopoly Slots game takes on the tradition of the famous board game itself. The main bonus feature game involving rolling a dice to move around the board. Just like the board game you travel around the board and accumulate properties (which will bag you a bonus), you could go to jail (which will end the game) and can collect the Pass Go bonus
If you get three dice symbols on an active play-line you activate the Board Bonus game. You then get to choose the dice that determine how many rolls of the dice you will get in the game.In the game, you roll the dice to progress around the board, picking up prize money along the way. If you land on a property that has an apartment or hotel on it (you accumulate these through the deeds symbols in the slot game) then you will win much bigger bonuses.
The level of this bonus depends on how much has accumulated during your play on the slot prior to triggering the bonus board game.
During the bonus board game, if you land on the Free Parking Square you win the associated Jackpot bonus. Once triggered, you are presented with three cars, each corresponding to a different level of the bonus. Each time you spin the wheel it will move one of the cars forward. The red car carries the jackpot bonus. Once the board game bonus is over, all the jackpots are reset to the original starting point and all of the properties you have accumulated during play are also reset. Thus, you start again from scratch and begin to build the board ready for next time the bonus is triggered
Monopoly Pass "GO" slots is another version of the famous slot game taken straight from the casino floor. This is a 9-line slot regular version, but it also comes as a Megajackpots version where you can win up to £4m on a single spin.
The game has a Pass "GO" Bonus game that involves a cut down version of the board game itself, earning you bonuses as you spin the dice and travel around the board.
Online, this game is available in casinos running software from Wagerworks, although as of yet, these casinos have not been opened up to US residents. Until IGT decide to allow US players, the best alternative option is, in our opinion, Superior Casino
The huge appeal of Monopoly slots should come as no surprise, though, it’s been a household favorite board game for so many years and of course, the game is to do with making money, which most slot players seem to appreciate
Monopoly was developed by Williams Gaming (WMS) and launched in 1999, winning the award of ‘Most Innovative Gaming Product’ at the American Gaming, Lodging and Leisure Summit during that year. Four different Monopoly Slots were initially brought out and the game became an instant hit
Two of the four versions first released were classic old fashioned reel-spinning slots - these machines are now very rare on the casino floors now and it often amazes me how a machine that is not even 10 years old can be seen as an antique.
The other two original machines would be more familiar to the modern slot player as they were video slots (called ‘Roll & Win’ and ‘Advance to Boardwalk’). In fact, the Advance to Boardwalk name still appears on some monopoly machines today.
More recently, this game has been introduced as a ‘transmissive wheels’ slot, an innovation that has again, won WMS awards for technological advances in slot machine manufacturing. This type of machine is very different from either the classic three-reel slots or even the style of the typical modern day video slots. You can see the machine in action in the video below to see what we mean
The other new game is the multi-player version where if one player gets onto the bonus game, then all players sitting at the block also gets to play. Just like the Wheel of Fortune Slots multiplayer game, this creates a unique social play that has been going down a storm in Vegas. For me, this type of play is a great addition to the casino - for the first time ever, slots are becoming sociable and this gives us all a great excuse to turn to our slot neighbor and have a chat about the game, the casino, or even life in general.
It’s hard to know for sure what those guys at WMS or IGT have in store for us on the casino slot floor, but judging by some of the developments at the big industry event of the year, the G2E in Vegas, it’s going to be exciting. Expect lots more in terms of sociable play and and great graphics, sound and humor.
What we may also begin to see is more of an arcade-style experience, like the new Top Gun slot machine that has you flying through the air collecting bonuses. Of course, no skill is needed for these arcade style bonus games, but they do create a real feeling of excitement and adrenaline as your win begins to mount up
