Free Maya Gold Slot Machine - Instant Play Game
Europe’s colonial ambitions had led it to subjugate the vast majority of the world; the Americas included! But before Cristopher Columbus and the Spanish empire took control of Latin America, the natives formed massive nations of their own! One of them was the wealthy Mayan empire, abundant in valuable and always-in-demand gold! Gold which we’ll be taking for ourselves as we play this slot.
For the year it came out, it can be quite impressive. Like so many other IGT games, its problem comes that it looks outdated now. And while we’re used to it, someone brand new coming into this release will just turn around and leave. The lack of any background image, dull symbols and incredibly basic animations won’t be winning anyone over. The only real hope for Maya Gold is for an eventual remaster, and we don’t think the developers plan to do that.
What about its gameplay, then? It’s so traditionally IGT, it’s not even funny. There’s a 5x3 board with 25 fixed paylines, which pay left to right only. And the only thing unique this slot has compared to other games by the same developer is the Mini-slot special feature. Everything else has been done by the developer at least once or twice. Now, occasionally reusing an idea is fine. The trouble with this software provider is that nearly all of their releases feel the same to play. The only real variations between them seem to be visual; and as we already covered, those aren’t winning any awards.
One look at the layout, and you’ll probably already be imagining the rest of the physical machine in front of you. Fortunately, Maya Gold has enough sense to not go down that path all the way! Instead, it just keeps the annoyingly complicated setting of your total bet. To change your wager, you have to adjust your coin denomination, credits per payline and number of active paylines. That allows for your stake to bounce between GBP 0.01 and GBP 250 on each spin. Personally, we suggest playing with at least all 25 paylines active, which will increase your minimum stake at GBP 0.25.
Despite the massive numbers you see in the paytable, your maximum win doesn’t really go over 400x your total stake. And while that’s not a bad number by any means, it’s also not the most exciting jackpot we’ve seen. At the very least, it confirms that this slot doesn’t have a high volatility for players to worry about! Sadly, we don’t have any official information on either that or the RTP. And while we can live without knowing the variance, the same cannot be said for the RTP. So long as we’re missing this crucial information, we wouldn’t recommend this game.

Collect three, four or five Scatters to win eight, twenty or one hundred free spins, respectively. And given the value of a five-of-a-kind Scatter, you can imagine how incredibly rare it is!
If three mini-slot icons appear, the bonus spins start! Your goal here is to score a three-of-a-kind fruit or bar win. Bars are the best, as they give the most valuable prize. Not the best in Maya Gold, but still quite lucrative.
Upon collecting enough points, a special Memory bonus is played. The further you progress into the special feature, the more prizes you win.
Last, but not least; wins during the Memory bonus have a chance to be doubled if the multiplier piece is found.
Really, there’s nothing individually bad about this slot that we can point to. The graphics are incredibly outdated, but they were quite good at the time. You can see the effort that went into animating them and drawing all the cool symbols! But there’s nothing new or exciting about it. This game feels like every other IGT release we’ve recently reviewed. There’s a point-collecting bonus, a free spins round, and a 5x3 board with flexible paylines. New and interesting special features will go a long way in alleviating gambler boredom. As it stands, we recommend skipping Maya Gold for something more engaging.
