Visuals are the one thing this release doesn’t do well. Really, nothing against Hot Safari itself: but the artists clearly phoned it in with the background. It’s just various shades of yellow and orange, and lacks any notable details. Symbols suffer the same fate. The actual animals look fine, except the zebra and its weird head shape. But the icons are further ruined by the presence of playing card royals! There’s no attempt at helping them fit into the theme either. They’re bright, colourful, and don’t match anything around them.

You play this slot on a 5x3 board with 25 fixed paylines which pay left to right only. There’s actually a sixth reel, but it doesn’t work the same way as the first five. Instead, with each spin, it can award a multiplier rather than a proper cash prize. The sixth reel can also trigger a special feature that floods board with Wilds! Last, but not least, there’s a free spins round that doesn’t have any extra additions. To make up for that, the game gives you an unlimited amount of times you can retrigger the extra turns.

Honestly, putting it in place of the spin button was a stroke of genius on their part. Another good idea they had was splitting on how you change your total bet. If you just want to change your stake, you can keep pressing the plus or minus button until you set it to a value that fits. Alternatively, you can tinker with it using coins per payline and coin value! This allows for wagers between GBP 0.25 and GBP 125 per spin, which is a great betting spread.

But the best part of this release is its jackpot! It makes use of two special features: the Super Wild bonus and the sixth reel multiplier. Technically, you can do it even without the special features, as Wilds expand when they land on the middle row even without any other bonus being active. To win the maximum prize, you’ll need five Wilds to appear in the middle row and fully expand. At the same time, a 10x multiplier must appear on the sixth reel. This will award the ultimate jackpot: worth 100,000x your total stake! The RTP is 96.17%, which is above the current industry average of 96%.

Bonus Rounds

The sixth reel spins alongside the initial five, but has a much different purpose. It doesn’t reveal regular symbols: instead, it displays multipliers. When you land a win on the main reels, their win will be multiplied by this multiplier. It ranges between 1x to 10x.

It is also possible to land the Super Wild bonus by landing the associated icon on the sixth reel. This created a guaranteed Wild in all five reels, but in random row positions.

We can’t remember the last time we disliked the graphics so much, but adored the gameplay. Usually, it’s the other way around! But Pragmatic Play showed that great visuals are optional.
