The Lovely Outlaws is hardly the most innovative title High 5 have put out, but it does use the elements of their previous titles to great benefit. The return of tumbling reels is a wonderful addition that spices up normal gameplay, and when you get several wins chained together, it can feel awesome.

The Wild West as a concept is something that enamours a great deal of people. Today, just about every aspect of your life is beholden and tracked somewhere, but back then, simply tossing on your things on horse back and riding off elsewhere was a definite possibility. Good thing if you admired your privacy and wanted to avoid too much bureaucracy. Bad thing if you wanted a police force more effective than a single guy with a gun. Even the best sheriff in the world would have trouble stopping these three hot ladies. The Lovely Outlaws offers gamblers a 5x3 playing field with 99 flexible paylines, as well as several special features to keep you interested.

The user interface is the same as in all other High Five titles, but we do like the visuals, even as outdated as they look. The symbols are still clearly drawn, but there are no animations tied to any of the icons apart from the fact that they blow up after being part of the winning combination. Most of the symbols fit the theme, apart from a few playing card icons like Q, K and A.

Theme associated icons include the three lovely outlaws, as well as the game’s logo. The highest paying symbol is the logo, which pays 5000x times the total wager for a five-of-a-kind game logo win. A painted pink skull activates the free spins and acts as the game’s Scatter, while there are two different sets of Wilds, the first of which appears on the first, second and third reels, while the second ones appear on the second, third and fourth reel.

Collecting three pink skull Scatters on any of the paylines rewards between one to four free spins, and only appear on the first, second and third reel. The two sets of Wilds only occur during free spins, as during normal gameplay, only the Wilds that appear on the second, third and fourth reel are available to the player. All free spins are played on 99 paylines and on the same bet level as the one you triggered the feature with.

At any given point after a winning combination occurs, the icons that were part of that win will blow up and disappear, leaving behind empty spaces in which new symbols can land into. This means that you could theoretically chain wins over and over for massive prizes, although from our experience, this feature is quite limited compared to the free spins.

As a downside, free spins are very underwhelming, as there’s a relatively small amount of them with a maximum of four free spins.

The title reaches a solid average for us, mostly held back by the aforementioned free spins. It comes with a 94.9% RTP and a maximum possible win of 5000x times your total bet for a five-of-a-kind win. The graphics are still below standard for slots, but the gameplay feels more fun than usual, even if there’s a genuine lack of interesting special features.
